The Library of Congress Music Division presents a spectacular collection of over 200 social dance manuals printed between 1490-1929 in Europe and the USA. Text versions and photographs are accompanied by 75 video clips that illustrate Western dances from the Baroque quadrille to Ragtime Maxixe.

Performing Arts Collections: American Memory at the Library Of Congress
Many primary source materials are available here, including sheet music, song sheets, sound files and recordings of songs, images and films. They are organized into a number of separate collections, devoted to areas such as: California Gold: Northern California Folk Music from the Thirties;  Dayton C. Miller Flute Collection; Southern Mosaic: The John and Ruby Lomax 1939 Southern States Recording Trip; Historic American Sheet Music, 1850-1920;  America Singing: Nineteenth-Century Song Sheets, and many more! Little animations of dance movements.

The History of Costume
"The 'History of Costume' was originally printed from 1861 to 1880 in Munich, and consisted of historical dress from antiquity to the end of the 19th century. It is an excellent source for students who are studying the history of fashion and for costume designers."

Kabuki For Everyone
A superb site dedicated to exploring, explaining, and appreciating the classic form of Japanese theatre known as "Kabuki". "Kabuki plays and dances may be about grand historical events or the everyday life of people in the Edo period (1600-1868)."
