U.S. State Department Human Rights Reports for the year 2000.
Reports on human rights of various countries of the world are available through this U.S. State Department website. Click on the region/continent, and then the actual country name (using a series of menus.)  Lots of information is available. See also The 2001 Year's Report also the other Past Reports On Human Rights Country Practices. Click on the year that you want to know about, and then the region and country name.

Amnesty International Country Reports, the Annual Report, and Amnesty Main Page
This organization rates the countries of the world on the basis of their treatment of their citizens' human rights. Updated yearly. Very thorough and impartial reports are available in full-text, organized by year and continent, then country.

Human Rights Watch
Human Rights Watch is dedicated to protecting the human rights of peoples of the world. Note the "Info by Country" section in the left column. Go directly to HRW World Rights 2004 Report for information on countries and their human rights.

Child Labor: Worst Forms Around The World
This organization lists many countries of the world that have child labor problems, and describes the different types of child labor abuses that occur there.

Derechos: Human Rights Around the World
This website offers reports on the countries of the world on the basis of their treatment of their citizens' human rights. Updated regularly. Very thorough links to information are available, organized by continent, then country.

Library Of Congress Country Studies
Use this data to supplement your country's human rights data. The Library of Congress provides detailed information about many of the world's countries. Find out about their people, economy, history, government, and other basic statistics.

This organization keeps updated reports on various countries with a focus on social problems their human rights abuses.

PPU Organization provides information about armed conflicts and its effects. Nicely organized data by continent and country.

World Organisation Against Torture
This organization publicizes instances of torture which occurs in countries of the world. Search by country name.

Elections and Electoral Systems Around the World

Background on political leaders of the world's countries, including military dictatorships, provided by the CIA.

Human Rights Library
The University of Minnesota Human Rights Library contains a collection of over ninety of the most important international human rights treaties and other instruments; general comments, recommendations, decisions, and views of human rights treaty bodies; material on the work of other U.N. human rights bodies.

Covert Action Quarterly
Online version of a magazine that specializes in exposing secret human rights abuses. See the back issues for articles that are available online.

Project Censored
The primary objective of Project Censored is to explore and publicize the extent of censorship in our society by locating stories about significant issues of which the public should be aware, but is not, for one reason or another. Includes stories on human rights abuses.

The U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights
The Constitution defines the fundamental law of the United States federal government, setting forth the three principal branches of the federal government, outlining their jurisdictions, and propounding the basic rights of U.S. citizens. It has become the landmark legal document of the Western world, and is the oldest written national constitution currently in effect. The essential principle of the document is that government must be confined to the rule of law.

HateWatch: A Guide to Hate Groups on the Internet
An organization that monitors the growing and evolving threat of hate group activity on the Internet. HateWatch catalogues hate groups home pages, tracks the use of these pages for recruitment purposes and provides bibliographic information by and for leading scholars.

Active Hate Groups in the U.S. (From SPLC)
"All hate groups have beliefs or practices that attack or denigrate an entire class of people, typically for their beliefs or immutable characteristics. This list of 602 active hate groups is based on information gathered by the Intelligence Project from hate groups’ publications, citizens’ reports, law enforcement agencies, field sources and news reports."
