Industrialization:  A Good, Bad, & Ugly Revolution

Larson/Johanson Modern World History

2003-04

This unit is focused on the importance of the Industrial Revolution in Europe and its impact on individuals, the environment and on social, political, and economic systems.  As a culminating project for the unit, you will be using this historical knowledge of the Industrial Revolution to make connections with contemporary social issues in our nation and around the world today caused by industrialization.  The project will require the following:

  • 10-slide PowerPoint presentation demonstrating in-depth research connecting one contemporary social issue with the Industrial Revolution in Europe (see attached rubric)
  • Practiced and refined oral presentation to be given during finals week (see attached rubric)
For most of these next two weeks, you will have class time to work with your partner.  Use it wisely (i.e., for researching, creating, or practicing your presentation, not for chatting and doing other homework).  Click here for a general timeline.
